What ODA is?
The
Ottawa Diplomatic Association is a non-profit organization that
consists of:
1.
Ordinary Members:
Diplomatic
Agents of foreign countries and members of international organizations
accredited to Canada.
2.
Associate Members:
a)
Ordinary Members of the Association retiring from the service
of their Governments or international organizations, residing
within the National Capital region, and
b)
Canadian citizens who have been of great service to the Association
and whose membership is accepted by a unanimous vote of the
General Assembly.
3.
Honorary Members:
Honorary
Membership shall be bestowed on Canadian Officials and other
nationals resident in Canada, who have been of great service
to the Association and whose membership accepted by a unanimous
vote of the General Assembly.
ODA's
objectives
The
Ottawa Diplomatic Association shall be to:
- Promote
friendship among its members and their families through social
and cultural activities.
- Provide
opportunities to increase members’ knowledge of Canadian politics,
economy and culture.
- Promote
relations between its members and all levels of government
in Canada.
- Welcome
and assist newly-arrived members of the Diplomatic Corps.
- Encourage
the exchange of information and ideas to improve multilateral
relations.
- Inform
about the ODA’s activities through local media.
- Organize
an Annual Ball and other social and cultural events.
ODA's
Patron
The
Governor General of Canada shall be the Patron of the Ottawa Diplomatic
Association
